2007 Ken Wright Pinot Noir Savoya(USA, Oregon, Willamette, Yamhill-Carlton). Light-bodied and heavy on the cherries. Some darkness comes out when paired with food, but not a tremendous amount of nuance here. Very approachable, dare I say basic wine. Some acid, some mouth-pucker. Not going to impress anybody, but perfectly enjoyable. SCORE: 88 |
| 2006 Saxon-Brown Zinfandel "Stonewall" Parmelee-Hill(USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley). Not this winemaker's greatest effort. As noted by others, has nuance at cellar temperature; light almost silky texture, but gets dumb as it warms; nuances merge into a flabbier undifferentiated syrup that reminded me of a much cheaper mass market zin. SCORE: 87 |

What's your philosophy?
Winebuyers.org is a wine drinkers' collective. Veterans of the wine tasting road trip, we tour America's wine regions big and small in search of local gems. We write about what we find and organize buyers who want to make a purchase based on our recommendation. Our mission: unpretentious wine drinking and good food.
Oh, and we rarely buy wine bottles that have animals depicted on their label.
